Welcome to Atherton Baptist Church

The Baptist Church has been present in Atherton since 1832, when two Baptist Christians came to the area and started meetings in a cottage in 'The Valley'. This soon grew and led to the building of a chapel in Dan Lane. This, too, quickly became too small and so a new building was erected in the current location, at the corner of Lee Street and Tyldesley Road. Since then two more buildings have been built on this site, the latest being our current building, which was designed to meet the needs of Church and community in modern times.

Our aim is to make God's love known by word and action, and to serve our local community in His Name.

We belong to the North Western Baptist Association and the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

We invite and welcome everyone to join us at our Sunday meetings, with opportunities for adults and children to have times of learning and worship appropriate to their own age.

We have a number of events during the week, which are listed on the weekly activities page, and to which all are welcome.
