About Us

We believe

  • There is one God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • Jesus is the Son of God.

  • He was born and lived in this world about 2,000 years ago.

  • At about 30 years old he allowed himself to be crucified to take God's punishment for our sins.

  • 3 days later he rose from death.

  • That these two acts together make it possible for us to stand before God, guilt free, and so receive eternal life with him at the end of our earthly lives.

As Baptists

  • We have infant dedication.

  • We perform believer's baptism.

  • We have Communion (The Lord's Supper).

  • We believe that other than God, the church members have ultimate authority in the spiritual and material life of the church.

Here at Atherton

  • We have a fairly traditional form of worship. Typically we have four songs/hymns with prayers, readings, children's talk and a sermon between them.

  • Worship time is usually followed by tea or coffee and biscuits.

  • We now have a full time minister. Rev. Hazlett Bloomfield arrived at the end of August and we look forward to working with him to find new and exciting ways to make the good news of Jesus known to the people of Atherton.

  • We welcome sinners - it makes us feel at home!
If you think Christians think they’re perfect, DON’T!!! We don’t claim to be perfect. We know we’re not. What we know is that God sent His Son, Jesus, to take the punishment for people’s sins “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.“ (John 3:16 - GNV)
